Adox HR-50 - 36exp
Achieve medium-format clarity inside your 35mm camera body. This is a fresh, factory-sealed 36-exposure roll of Adox HR-50 (High Resolution 50), engineered and finished in Bad Saarow, Germany by the monochrome specialists at Adox.
Originally derived from a specialist technical surveillance emulsion, Adox HR-50 is modified through Adox’s proprietary “Speed Boost” technology to tame the extreme contrast of technical films and make it completely usable for pictorial photography in standard developers. Boasting an ultra-fine monodisperse grain structure and superpanchromatic sensitivity extending up to 750nm, it produces razor-sharp detail, creamy skin tones, and dramatic skies that rival much larger film formats.
The Highlights
-
Microscopic Grain & Extreme Sharpness: Delivers staggering resolving power (up to 280 lines/mm) and virtually invisible grain, turning 35mm negatives into giant darkroom prints or pin-sharp high-res scans.
-
Adox Speed Boost Technology: Pre-treated during manufacturing to smooth out the harsh contrast curve typical of technical films, allowing it to be processed in standard black and white chemistry rather than specialist low-contrast developers alone.
-
Superpanchromatic & Near-Infrared Response: Extended spectral sensitivity up to 750nm naturally darkens blue skies, separates clouds without a filter, and renders skin tones remarkably smooth and blemish-free.
-
True Infrared Capability: When paired with a deep red or R72 infrared filter, HR-50 doubles as a razor-sharp infrared film capable of producing the glowing "Wood Effect" on sunlit foliage.
-
Clear PET Base: Coated on a crystal-clear, dimensionally stable synthetic base that lies dead flat in scanners and negative carriers—and allows the film to be reversal-processed into breathtaking B&W slides.
