Experience the luminescent magic of holding a true black and white transparency up to the light. This is a fresh, factory-sealed 36-exposure roll of Adox Scala 50, engineered and finished in Bad Saarow, Germany by the monochrome specialists at Adox.

Carrying the torch of Agfa’s legendary Scala reversal line, Adox Scala 50 is a high-resolution, superpanchromatic black and white film specifically designed for reversal processing into stunning monochrome slides—though it can also be processed in standard negative chemistry as an ultra-sharp, fine-grain B&W negative. Coated on a crystal-clear, dimensionally stable PET base and enhanced with Adox’s proprietary "Speed Boost" technology, it delivers deep, ink-like D-max blacks, gleaming specular highlights, and microscopic grain that brings projections and lightbox viewing to life.

The Highlights

  • True Monochrome Slide Film: Engineered for B&W reversal processing, producing physical black and white positives with three-dimensional depth, rich contrast, and brilliant projection clarity.

  • Microscopic Grain & Extreme Resolving Power: Capable of resolving up to 280 lines/mm with virtually invisible grain, capturing intricate architectural details, textures, and landscapes with medium-format precision.

  • Superpanchromatic & Near-IR Sensitivity: Extended red sensitivity up to 750nm naturally darkens blue skies, makes clouds pop without heavy filtration, and renders portrait skin tones smooth and luminous.

  • Crystal-Clear PET Base: Coated on a transparent synthetic base with zero base tint, ensuring bright, neutral highlights on a lightbox or slide projector and dead-flat feeding in film scanners.

  • Dual-Process Versatility: Run it through B&W Reversal chemistry (such as the Adox Scala Kit) for direct positive slides, or develop it in standard B&W negative chemistry (like Adox HR-DEV, FX-39 II, or Rodinal) for ultra-sharp black and white negatives.
