CineStill 50D 36exp - Expired 08/2024
Bring genuine Hollywood daylight cinematography to your 35mm still camera. This is a factory-sealed 36-exposure roll of CineStill 50D (50Daylight), recently expired in August 2024.
Prepared from fresh Kodak Vision3 50D (5203) motion picture stock with the remjet anti-halation backing chemically removed prior to packaging, CineStill 50D is engineered for safe, standard C-41 photo lab processing. Renowned as one of the finest-grained colour films on the planet, it delivers breathtaking sharpness, wide dynamic range, and an unmistakable cinematic colour palette. Because the anti-halation layer has been stripped away, bright specular highlights and harsh reflections bloom with a subtle, warm reddish-orange halation glow. Only recently past its August 2024 date, this low-speed ISO 50 emulsion retains virtually all of its original factory performance without requiring heavy age compensation.
The Highlights
-
Ultra-Fine Grain & Resolution: Built on Kodak’s legendary 50-speed motion picture stock, delivering microscopic grain, razor-sharp acutance, and seamless tonal gradations.
-
Signature Halation Glow: Without a remjet backing layer, strong light sources, chrome reflections, and backlit subjects exhibit a dreamy, warm halation effect unique to CineStill films.
-
Rich Daylight Colour Science: Balanced specifically for 5500K daylight, yielding natural skin tones, deep cerulean skies, and lush shadow detail with high dynamic range.
-
Recent Expiry Stability: Slow ISO 50 emulsions age slower than any other colour film speed; having expired in August 2024, it shoots cleanly right at box speed.
-
Standard High-Street Lab Processing (C-41): Pre-stripped of remjet, making it 100% safe for any commercial minilab or home C-41 kit (can also be processed in ECN-2 chemistry for lower-contrast motion picture rendering).
